 2011 Ghost Stories

In recent weeks it has come to my attention that certain parties are using my ghost stories and those of my contributors as references for their own commercial enterprises.  If you or someone you know is writing a book on ghosts in the Pacific Northwest, PLEASE DO NOT!!! copy or use the following stories or any other materials within this website as references.

SUBJECT:  My Story at McMenamins Edgefield

My wife and I live in Stevenson Washington and last year she came into town after Thanksgiving to do some shopping. I'm a Portland Police Officer that works nights which as you can imagine makes life difficult. My wife finished her shopping, but because or weather had to stay in town because she couldn't make it back up the gorge. When I goy off work it was the end of my work week so I suggested we stay another night in town and finish some Christmas shopping. She stayed the night before at McMenamins Edgefield and I suggested we stay another night because of the weather. We moved to a room on the top floor which was much larger than the one she originally stayed in.

While she was shopping I took a nap and woke up and started reading the paper. While I was reading the paper I heard distinct footsteps in the room, I looked up from the newspaper and the footsteps suddenly stopped. I started reading the paper again and the footsteps started again. I looked up expecting to see someone and again the footsteps stopped. I have been a police officer for 17 years and had no doubt that the footsteps were coming from inside the room.

Later that night when we went to bed I was woken again be the sound of footsteps inside our room. I didn't wake my wife but as soon as sat up the footsteps stopped. We were on the top floor and the sound was not coming from an adjacent room, I know for certain that the sound was coming from inside my room. I laid back down and the footsteps continued until I again sat back up.  The next morning while we were in the gift shop I mentioned my experience to an employee and was told that they have had similar complaints from the room where we were staying. I'm not sure what disturbed me more, the footsteps in my room, or that staff acted like it was just another day at Edgefield! Either way I found it a very interesting, and disturbing experience!

SUBJECT:  I Have Some Questions

Hi,
Hi my name is Tammie,

My husband and I just moved into our new home in Chehalis, Washington. My husband has taken a picture off his cell phone camera in the pitch black of night after hearing "footsteps coming up the old stairs. We thought it was our two boys, but they were both sound asleep, then we thought that it may have been our 11year old daughter that sleeps downstairs, but again she was fast asleep. We cannot explain this first picture.

A few weeks later I took a picture of my 15 year old son from my cell phone camera. I text it to my sister and she text me back asking "who is standing behind Brandon"? I told her "No one, why"? Then I looked even closer, I can swear I see a faint picture of a face of a lady in the 40's or 50's. The house was built in 1930's. We cannot find any history on our home. But would love to.
From day one, we have heard strange things in our home. We do not feel threatened by any means, we just would like to know if we are truly seeing what we think we are seeing.

Horses are gods gift to us, so please help protect them and just love them always.
