 2008 Ghost Stories

In recent weeks it has come to my attention that certain parties are using my ghost stories and those of my contributors as references for their own commercial enterprises.  If you or someone you know is writing a book on ghosts in the Pacific Northwest, PLEASE DO NOT!!! copy or use the following stories or any other materials within this website as references.

SUBJECT:  Bruce Lee Photo

Hello

Just like to tell you that, is not him.  Both clothing and size doesn't look like him. Face profile looks only slightly similar and that's not the clothing he was buried with.

Yes, BL fan here.  Could be any other person there, live or dead just wondering around.

Best
SK

Hi SK,
Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you.  You are not the first person who has had the same opinion.  It's an intriguing picture though, since TC swears that there was no one sitting on the bench.  I've been the the Lee graves, and there is a hedge behind it, so it could not have been someone some distance away.

I'll post your email in a few days on my website.
Thanks for emailing,
Jeff Davis

Don't worry about it, what I meant to say is that spirits can walk around graveyards so, if that's one on the photo is not BL mainly because they usually appear with the clothes he/she was buried with and BL was buried with a white shirt as in 'Enter the Dragon". Another thing is that here has never been reports of a BL ghost, except one that is said not to be believable because of the source (it involve some kid that said BL appeared to him and told him the name of the person responsible for his death).

best
SK

SUBJECT: Question for you

 Hi Jeff,

I don't know if you are still tracking haunted places in Portland, but my friend has a ghost/presence in his house and we were wondering if you knew anyone who could verify this somehow. Like a psychic or someone like that who could tell us a little more than what we seem to be sensing.

Thanks!
Susan

I have posted Susan's questions a little late now, but I hope that other people will have some suggestions on how to tell if a house is haunted, and I will  pass them on to her.

SUBJECT: Ghost Sightings

Hi, I have a comment about the Harmony House Restaurant in Clackamas, OR. I worked there when I was in high school, and a lot of the people that worked there with me had experiences with the ghosts that inhabit the upstairs.  My aunt still works there, and she has had a few run-ins too. If/when anyone goes in there to check the place out, make sure you ask them if you can go see the upstairs. That is where all the sightings took place.  Also, ask the people that work there about the history- it’s very spooky!

Thanks,

Jessica

SUBJECT:  The Photos We Discussed

The message below was from EJ, who I met at NORWESCON, where I was selling books. Jeff Davis

These about some of the photos we discussed in the hall at 2 PM today.  The Thornwood castle photos were taken with a disposable Kodak type.  Four of the photos were taken outside under cloudy skies.  It had just stopped raining.

There is an added photo taken over in Iraq.  It was sent to me about a year ago from a friend who was serving over there.

The photo of the doorway upper area I still do not know what to say about.  The photo of the lion does not have a camera strap in front of it.  There was nothing there when I took it; it just showed up.

Hope you like the photos.

SUBJECT:  Your website… a question

Hi, my name is Rich Lyons. I run CGP (Columbia Gorge Paranormal), a paranormal investigation group out of White Salmon, Washington in the Columbia Gorge. We haven't been around long, but are a very serious and scientific in our approach (I also teach Physics and other sciences in a public school.). I recently found your website "ghostsandcritters.com" and seen your book titles. I was wondering, where you are based out of? Do you have any good locations (especially in the Columbia Gorge area) that need a very thorough scientific investigation? We have done several local investigations already and have got some interesting data! If you want, check out our new website at www.columbiagorgeparanormal.com to read about us. The site has only been up a couple of weeks, and our team has got a few new members recently, soe we are starting the group from scratch. I am the founder and lead investigator. Before moving to the Gorge in the late 90's, I was a member of Alabama Paranormal out of Birmingham Alabama . I hope to hear from you, as you seem to be much more familiar with "local haunts" (pun intended!).
Sincerely,
Richard Lyons

The address is www.columbiagorgeparanormal.com. I can't wait to see the link on your site, my team was excited to hear you would do that. Well, this month we have investigations going on at Wind River Cellars Winery and a couple of private homes. We are hoping to schedule the Hot Springs soon.  I'll keep in touch as we discover new places. Let us know if you hear of any new hot spots in the Gorge area.

Hello,

My name is Bo and I'm one of the new  owners of The Oxford Saloon and Eatery in Snohomish, WA. I'd like to use your quote about our establishment on our new website I'm currently building. Would it be possible to do that? I could even create a link to your site if you wish.

Thank you for your time and have a great day!
Bo Cambern

In the past the owners of the Oxford Saloon have been ghost hunter friendly, and it appears that Bo will keep up that tradition!!!
Good!

SUBJECT:  Forwarded haunt in Spokane, WA

State: Washington

Story: Here in Spokane there is an apartment complex known as "The Ridge."  It is located in the beautiful and historic Browne's Addition area.  What is interesting is that when they broke ground on the complex they found bodies.  Several bodies.  As it turns out, the original mayor wanted to develop the area, which at that time was the location of the city's first cemetery, and no one wanted to live next to a cemetery.

Being Mayor, the solution was simple, he passed an ordinance that all cemeteries had to be moved outside city limits. Presumably, the bodies had been moved to Fairmont and Greenwood cemeteries, but in truth, it was just headstones.

This is all 100% true, and verifiable.

SUBJECT:  The Grant House Ghost – Vancouver, WA

Although Grant never actually lived there, Sully remains.  Many years ago, I visited the Grant house with my mother.  No one was there but a curator seated inside the front door.  He said we could tour through the building on our own.

The first floor was fine.  The second floor felt a little creepy.  As we went up the narrow stairs to the top floor, we were both overcome with anxiety... as if we were expecting someone to pop out and say "Boo!".  We only stayed in that top floor room for a few seconds before running back down the stairs, past the curator and out to our car.

We both looked up to see a man in the window of the top floor!  Several years later, I heard that the house was really haunted and it wasn't our imaginations playing tricks on us.  The top floor is boarded up, now.  I wonder why.

SUBJECT:  Lenore's Ghost

Dear Jeff:

I saw the post on your web site http://www.ghostsandcritters.com/February%2003.html

I’ve been to Lenore’s Ghost and it is a pretty active place supernaturally – and preternaturally - speaking. They also book some great acoustic music – John Gorka and that caliber. Most of the town of Independence is pretty active and it probably would serve you to settle in there for a weekend with the right kind of equipment. The folks at Lenore’s will talk about the ghost there if you approach them gently – and not in the middle of a rush period.

Spectrally there does appear to be what I would define as personality fragments, as well as possible riocht or Coimimeadh  activity. This leads me to the following hypotheses:

  1. There are ghosts there, and they are probably of more than one origin.
  2. I think it likely that one origin of one of those spectral patterns is being generated by a bruadaraiche  who may live in that area. He or she may not be aware of what they are doing. On the other hand – maybe they are.
  3. That part of the valley is full of springs. I think it likely that there are still colonies of Native sith there who could be causing some of the activity as well.

I’m not a particularly strong taibhsear, my sister got most of that, but from a scientific approach I’m thinking EMF rather than thermal is the way to go. Night-vision cameras with the right kind of shutter-speeds *might* give you something as far a motion or movement, but if I am correct about the origins of the phenomena (I could be wrong too) I don’t think you’ll get much of a thermal paint *unless* it’s sith.

 Best Regards,
Kathleen O'B.B.
McMinnville , OR

I would suggest following Kathleen's advice.  If you go to to Lenore's Ghost, don't try asking too many questions when they're busy, and initially take no for an answer, then come back when they aren't too busy.

SUBJECT:  Haunted House in Lewis County, WA

Hi Jeff,

Have you ever heard of a haunted house in Lewis County, Washington?

My father was born in Ethel, WA (one near Salkum since there are two Ethel's in Washington) in 1903. (Both his paternal and maternal grandparents had settled in Lewis Co., WA around 1880.)  He used to tell us kids (4) of a house that he and his (several) cousins (Wright's and Gore's) once entered.  The house was old, big, and vacant.  The kids had ridden horseback to the house (best mode of travel then).  While they were in the house they heard noises like someone was walking around upstairs.  The kids started upstairs to check it out and just then some balls came rolling down the stairs.  The cousins had planned on spending the night  but they left in a hurry.

I don't know who owned this house or where exactly it was located in or around Ethel/Salkum area.

SUBJECT:  Ghost Hunting techniques S

Sir,

I have been interested in the paranormal for several years.  I have had my own experiences with the "Hauntings" and have done some post investigative work to find histories of or maybe names of possible ghosts.  Being from Kansas originally and have had most of my experiences there.  I have investigated the Eldridge House in Lawrence as well as several private homes that were directly involved with William Quantrill’s Raid on Lawrence Kansas.  I have also done some work in Ft Riley and in the old Detention Barracks at FT. Leavenworth.  My way of investigating is to disprove hauntings (I have adopted the TAPS method).  It seems to work better and helps to keep a level head when things start happening.  I have recently relocated to the Tacoma Area and have investigated some things there on mere "urban Legend."  I am a serious and professional investigator and would like some help in continuing my hobby.  Any help you can give me would be great.  Thanks and keep up the great web page Bret M.

Hello -

I am a prominent ghost-believe as you will that resides in Ashland Oregon.  I know of most of the stories you have listed on your site (and a great deal more) but was mostly interested when I noticed a new page on your site that mentioned the history of Lithia Park...I was wondering what your sources on Lithia park were and if there was any way you could direct me toward these sources.  Thank you.

SUBJECT:  Fort Casey

Dear Jeff,

Hi my name is Anita S. I live on Whidbey Island in Washington.  I found your website through Google.  While I don't have a ghost story for Fort Casey… yet.  I have experienced quite a few weird things in my life. But why I emailed you was… have you ever thought about coming to Whidbey Island for investigation?

My son worked for Camp Casey for awhile.  There are quite a few barracks… homes… gun embattlements… etc. at Casey… and we had his rehearsal dinner there at the barracks.

Never liked that particular place… not sure why.  Might be worth the time to investigate.

Thanks again,
Anita S

Studies of the Paranormal at http://www.studiesoftheparanormal.com.

They are a general paranormal site and they cover all kinds of paranormal subjects.  If you are not too busy you might want to check them out.

SUBJECT:  Remember the movie, “The Entity”?

Well, the Entity now lives near me, in Federal Way:  Two women report ghost has been having sex with them

April 25, 2008
The following is a sample from the Federal Way police public information log:

• At 4:02 p.m. April 10, two women went into the Federal Way police station claiming that over the past two years, a paranormal person has been placing sensors on their bodies and visiting them in their house at 28600 block of 25th Place South.  They said that the ghost has been having sexual intercourse with them. One woman said that these incidents started in Kent and continued when she moved here.  The other woman said that this just started now.

This is it for this incident in the police blotter.  I may just have to try tracking these women down.  "Relax, ladies, that was no ghost, that was me in my Cloak of Invisibility!"
